A LETTER TO MYSELF

"Sometimes I'm overwhelmed by how deeply hurt and evil this world can be and other times I'm stunned to silence by its beauty, so I suppose the only thing that's certain is that it's here, and I'm in it and I'll do with that what I can."
Dear Simran,
Everything is at a standstill. Each day is like the last, going to sleep at night does not have the same fulfillment of having achieved something in the day and waking up the next morning is not exciting anymore. A majority of people are feeling this , especially since you're in your twenties, the age that you imagined would be full of travel, adventure and possibilities
Being in your early twenties even in a world without the pandemic is a tricky feeling anyway, it's easy to  feel like you haven't really achieved anything in life, to feel worthless and demotivated. Now that the future is especially blurred, it is even more so difficult to be happy and optimistic. Everything that's currently happening in the Country aside from the pandemic is all so disheartening, how can a citizen have any hope when the authorities are hell bent on destroying everything the people held sacred, but it is during these times that you should focus on the few people who are trying to voice these concerns and be inspired by them and educate yourself on sensitive topics, don't be afraid to correct yourself if you're wrong about something. The society and their upbringing and the way everyone else lives around you will make it seem like your life will end at 28 and pressure you into thinking that you should also have figured out everything, from your career, future to relationships right in this time period. Your life is  too precious for that.
What is often forgotten is that we were not put on earth to worry about what other people think of you and when you die these are not the things that count; it is the stories of times spent with your loved ones, the serendipity found in a picnic with your best friend, celebrating every moment of life with your sister or the happiness after a day reading a good book.

And so there are only a few things that can determine if you have succeeded in life- if you are a better person today than you were a year ago, you've succeeded. If you have the desire to learn new things and grow, you've succeeded, If you stand for equality and change for the right things and people, you've succeeded.
We resist, struggle, fight and win everyday; that's how we shape the world we live in for the beautiful days yet to come.
love,
yours truly.
