Nowadays when online streaming and binge watching shows is the only way to keep us sane in the confines of our household , one can feel that they are fast running out of good shows to watch so here is a list of some lesser known shows ,that do not always pop up on the "top 10 shows list ", but are masterpieces in their own rights.
1. Trust
Trust is an American anthology drama series,the 10 episode show is set in 1973 and recounts the abduction of John Paul Getty III, then heir to the famous Getty Oil, while he was in Italy. It is based on the trials and tribulations of the Getty family, one of America's most iconic dynasties and a famous kidnapping which became publicized worldwide for its bizarre nature! It is an edge of the seat hidden gem from the house of FX.

It is a 16 episode South Korean wonder by OCN . A cold case profiler in 2015 and a detective in 1989 work together to solve a series of murder cases spanning 3 decades using a special walkie talkie to communicate. In the 50 or so Korean shows that i have seen this one is definitely in the top 5, with an intense opening and a heart stopping conclusion . Jo Jin Woong deserves a mention, since he shines in this masterpiece.
3.The Marvelous Mrs Maisel
It is an American period comedy drama series that premiered its 3rd season last year. In the late 1950s Miriam "Midge" Maisel has the perfect life in New York's Upper West Side, when her seemingly idyllic life takes a surprising turn after she discovers a hidden talent she previously didn't know she possessed- Stand Up Comedy. To describe it in one line, it's a fantastical combination of period musical with thought provokingly funny dialogues about women and life . The beautiful Cinematography, performances of the entire cast and the extremely well written dialogues make sure that we are not bored for even a second .
4.The Night Manager
It is a British TV series with a 6 episode run adapted from a 1993 novel by John-le-Carre. This show comes in the very narrow echelon of film making when the show is better than the book. Pine, an ex British solider, is hired by an intelligence officer as a covert operative. He is tasked with infiltrating the inner circle of Roper, a secret arms dealer and also his lover's killer. Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie are absolutely charming in their respective roles with breathtaking music accompanying the nail biting plot.
5. La Casa De papel / Money Heist
This is a Spanish television Heist crime drama series, which has aired 4 seasons till date. A Criminal mastermind who goes by the name "The Professor" has plans to pull off the biggest heist in recorded history - to print billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain. To help him carry out the ambitious plan, he recruits eight people with certain abilities who have nothing to loose.As time elapses the robbers prepare for a showdown with the police. If you love heist centric movies, then this is a treat for the eyes and the brain as it upends most cliches of heist films and celebrates others.
6. Guardian: The Lonely and Great God
Goblin is a 16 episode South Korean TV series starring Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook as protagonists. This timelessly classic drama, definitely takes the number 1 spot on my list, since it contains a bit of every genre you would ever want and still leave you wanting for more. It is about how the lives of an immortal Goblin from the Goreyo dynasty , an amnesiac Grim Reaper and a high school girl who sees ghosts tangled together as they navigate the world in search for answers. As soon as it aired it was a critical success and became a cultural phenomenon in South Korea, which is enough to say that it is a must watch.
7. Gotham
Gotham is 5 season American action crime drama series,based on the characters published by the DC Comics. Everyone knows how Bruce Wayne became Batman, this series shows that journey with more depth as well as the lives of Jim Gordon from a detective to commissioner Gordon, while dealing with the origins of some of the most loved and feared villains in the history of Gotham, including the Joker, Penguin and the Riddler to name a few.
A treat for all DC fans.
8. Rise of the Phoenixes
This is a 2018 Chinese TV series that is loosely based on the novel Huang Quang by Tianxia.
This period drama has political intrigue, amazing costumes, set pieces, locations and the best performances by Chen Kun and Ni Ni. It is a show that has something for everyone, a strong plot and story, if that is your cup of tea or if you like to see Magnificent thrones, peacock feathers and stunning uniforms, this series is a real explosion in the paint factory -making it a delight for the viewers eyes!

It is a Turkish historical fiction and adventure series,about the heroic story of Ertugrul Ghazi, the father of Osman (Uthman) who founded the Ottoman Empire.It is a pretty long show that ran for five years with 150 episodes , but it transcends you into an other worldly experience and gives you a deep appreciation of the culture and Muslim faith around which it is based and the trials and tribulations that the people of those times have endured.

Is a 6 episode British TV series by BBC ,about a war veteran David Budd ,who is assigned to protect the home secretary,Julia Montague a controversial and ambitious politician .Finding himself increasingly at odds with Montague's policies and personality, and dealing with physical and psychological scars from his time serving in Afghanistan, a volatile Budd is torn between his beliefs and his duty to protect. It captures your attention and gets you hooked in the first 15 minutes itself, with its palpable tension making it an addicting psychological thriller.
